I haven't been in touch for quite a while. However, I thought I'd drop you an line to let you know about an article that I wrote for In-Fisherman magazine that has been published in the 2009 In-Fisherman Ice Guide. The Len Thompson is mentioned along with several of my other favorites.

I will be doing a follow-up piece next year and I will continue to include the Len Thompsons as one of my go-to lures for all species. Thank you for the opportunity to use the Len Thompson spoons. They are definitely the best and the "original" of their kind. So many others have tried to "imitate", but none have managed to "duplicate" the Len Thompson. (November 2008)

I noticed the question regarding catching bass on your spoons...

The other day, my nephew and I were going to our favourite bass reservoir and I was about to take out my topwater popper when he said, "Uncle, I'm gonna try an ole blue n' silver (Len Thompson Platinum Nickel/Blue (P NB)), just for the heck of it!" On the first cast he caught his first smallmouth, ever!!!

We swear by your spoons. When the pike are hitting hard in the mountain lakes, it's only on the Nickel/Blue (NB)... switch to another colour and all you'll do is watch us catch!

Thank you for continuing to make a quality fishing lure that works the same as the last one.

I would love to see you use ball-bearing swivels on your premium spoons as barrel swivels just don't give the dance that bearings provide. (September 2008)

Again, thank you very much. I love your lures and plan to come for a tour in Lacombe someday soon. I am a big fan. Nothing catches pike on Beaver Lake like a No. 2 "5 o' diamonds" (YR)... even the odd walleye bites on the No. 1's!!! My tackle box is full of them. (August 2008)

I just wanted to give you an update to my recent trip to Canada...

The use of your lures resulted in landing four trophy northerns over 41 inches long during my five (5) day trip. One of the northerns measured 43.5 inches... my best fish to date!!!! I can't tell you exactly how many other great northern's I hooked into... too numerous to count!!!!!! Thanks for your help in my lure selections. My appreciation goes out to your company... staff... and the products you sell and SERVICE. (August 2008)

I just wanted to let you know that my son and I have been using No. 1 Len Thompson five of diamonds faithfully for 10 years (4 years for him). It is the only style of hook we bring. We have a tackle box full of nothing but. We have landed every kind of fish imaginable. We just wanted to say keep up the great job. (June 2008)

I noticed that somebody was asking if Len Thompsons could be used for steelhead in the Great Lakes tributaries.......yes, they certainly can! My go-to lure for Fall steelhead and coho salmon last year was No. 00 Flame & White (FW) Len Thompson.

I was wondering if Len Thompsons can be used as a flasher with the treble removed and then trail a minnow? (This is how I run a lot of other spoons for lake trout... just wondering if anyone has tried this with Len Thompsons? (June 2008)

My Grandfather just gave me his old tackle box and some rods. He said he started fishing after the War and continued up until he had kids the first of which came in 1956 then he had to retire the rods. He said the last time he touched the tackle box was around 1959. He went to the store and bought some len thompson lures and noticed you guys relocated to Lacombe. He was pleased that you still offered fishing tips on the packages seeing that he wasn't the best angler.

Anyway, I was just hunting through his old gear and there are 4 lures still in the packages. Three of them are from Lacombe and one from Abernethy. There are also about half dozen other ones that have been used. I was amazed to see how old they were and they haven't changed one bit in all those years. (I guess if it ain't broke don't fix it). Just thought you might enjoy the story... (October 2007)

I've told this story a hundred times, but it never occurred to me to tell you until just now.

During the '80's I fished on Fish River Lake in N. Maine for about 20 years. One day, while trolling with a 5 hp motor and letting out line, I had a tremendous strike. I turned around just in time to see boiling water from which emerged an Osprey with my large (6"?) 5 of Diamonds in its grasp. Thankfully, it dropped the lure just over tree top level.

This is proof of this great lure. (October 2007)

Your product is better than anything I have ever used in my 50 years. (September 2007)

I use the Reverse Red (RR) and the Reverse Black (BK) No. 1. I catch pike anywhere from 24 inches to 39 inches. I have even caught bass on them. I use to use live bait, but not anymore. The Platinum Series are the all around best. (August 2007)
