OUR FACTORY

HOW IT'S MADE

We truly are very proud of our Made in Canada lures. Walk through our process below.
Picture
Each Len Thompson lure is punched out from rolls of solid brass using different dies for each size of spoon. Len Thompson purchased this punch press used in 1945 for $711 and it is still going strong today.

The lures come out with very rough edges so are smoothed down using various tumblers and polishing media.

Once polished and lacquered, the lures are loaded onto round trays. All of our painting is done in using airbrushing. The above No. 13 lures are pictured already painted with a white base coat.

Stencils are used to apply our retail patterns although some designs (or layers) are done entirely by free-hand. Each colour is applied one at a time.

Our custom lures are painted by hand too but logos/special details are printed using a pad print machine or digital print technology.

Once painted, the lures get loaded on trays which get baked in a large industrial oven. The heat hardens and sets the paint.

After cooling down, the lures are unloaded from the tray and moved to the assembly line. Each lure's stainless steel split ring and Eagle Claw hook is put on one at a time by hand. The lures are then placed on racks.

The average lure is handled twenty times during production. This makes sense when you consider the quality of our product... if at any stage a flaw is noticed, it is removed.

Lures are packaged using a hand operated heat press. Each spoon is individually placed into a plastic bubble then covered with special glued card. When heated the blister and card seal together.

The packaged lures are labeled with UPC codes, put into boxes and ready to ship to a store near you.
