Len Thompson in Lacombe, AB (1968)

Why choose Len Thompson?Yes, we claim Len Thompson spoons are the best. Granted, we are biased. As a fourth generation family owned and operated business, Len Thompson was our grandfather/great grandfather. Needless to say our opinions were formed at an early age. However, it's not only we who make that claim. We've been told countless times by lodge owners, guides, and experienced anglers that Len Thompson lures consistently outperform all other brands. Troll a Len Thompson on one side and an "x" (insert the name of any other brand name spoon) on the other and the Len Thompson side will catch more fish. The reason is because of action.
Len carried a file and ball peen hammer in his tackle box until his last fishing trip. He continually tweaked his product until he ultimately settled on a shape that allowed the spoon to give a strike-enticing wobble through the greatest range of speeds. We haven't significantly changed that shape since the 1950's. Sure, you can catch fish with other spoons, but Len Thompson lures are unique and work exceptionally well. |
To this day, we have remained committed to manufacturing a premium product. These are a few things that make us different:
- Irresistible action that gets results!
- Durable, environmentally friendly paint finishes.
- Solid brass, heavy spoons that sink deeper, cast further and will not rust.
- Strong stainless steel split ring and premium Eagle Claw® Lazer Sharp hook.
- Made in Canada
(JUST A FEW OF MANY) TESTIMONIALS
We had used [another brand of spoon] for years, but a couple of years ago we needed some spoons for a trip to Lake Esnagami in Ontario. We found this frog pattern (GF) No. 2 Len Thompson... that thing out fished virtually everything in our collective tackle boxes. Since then we have been hardcore Len Thompson fans. I don't pretend to know what makes the difference, but the things work. (Bud Hufnagel, USA)
Just writing to say Koana (thank you) for making these hooks. They help a lot in bringing enjoyment to our family, but, more importantly, they help feed so many people in our community and around the North. (Adam Kudlak, Holman, Northwest Territories)
I am a 20 year old gal who grew up fishing Saskatchewan's northern lakes with my father. I will always remember his only words of fishing advice 'just put a Len Thompson on the line and wait for them to bite!' He swears by your hooks and so do I. I am heading on a fishing trip next week and I can't wait to pull out a good old 'Len Thompson' and wait for them to bite! (Shantel Parker, Lloydminster, AB)
Again, thank you very much. I love your lures and plan to come for a tour in Lacombe someday soon. I am a big fan. Nothing catches pike on Beaver Lake like a No. 2 "5 o' diamonds" (YR)... even the odd walleye bites on the No. 1's!!! My tackle box is full of them. (James McGimpsey, Lac La Biche, AB)
I have used your lures quite often in the past and had nothing but success. I find my self in a predicament as I now live in Ireland. I brought over two No. 4 five-of-diamonds (YR). I lost one in a pike about 40 lbs (… big pike here in Ireland) and the other got lifted. I managed to win 4 competitions here with the first one, and cried when I lost it. It is impossible to locate any of your lures here and in England. Please send me a catalogue so I can start winning competitions again. (Wayne Dharsan, Ratoath, Ireland)
I have been fishing (Len Thompson lures) for many years. It is the most productive lure in my tackle box. When every thing else fails and fishing is slow out comes Thompson spoon... the action just drives the fish crazy. (Bob Baietto, Peoria, IL)
