Congratulations to Justin S from Sherwood Park, AB... Justin scored a $100 Len Thompson Prize Pack for his nomination in Santa's Nice List contest.

Justin was nominated by "Proud Mamma" Carla. He's pictured above (but we may or may not have added the Santa Hat in celebration).

Carla writes:

I grew up with two brothers who loved fishing (and both grew up to be Fisheries biologists). I cast my fair share of Len Thompson lures into the water during my childhood, but swore I wouldn't fish in my adulthood -it wasn't my thing. But Justin's joy of fishing is contagious and now our family spends our summers casting our Len Thompson's into the water, and reeling in some good ones.
"Most of his friends now spend their weekends at some middle-of-nowhere lake or standing on the ice for hours to see who can take home the big one. This is incredibly rare amongst the suburban teens in our area, but Justin loves it and now they all do to."
But of course, Justin can't stop once the summer is over. He is passionate about fishing, and his passion is contagious. He has somehow convinced us to spend our family holidays near rivers or lakes based on the fish they offer. Most of his friends now spend their weekends at some middle-of-nowhere lake or standing on the ice for hours to see who can take home the big one. This is incredibly rare amongst the suburban teens in our area, but Justin loves it and now they all do to. He spends lots of his hard-earned money on lures and rods and even got himself a second hand boat and motor.
But the reason I'm nominating him is because while he (like most fishermen) like the solitude of fishing, he always invites others along so that they can experience the joy of being at the lake (or river). He has brought his younger cousins, his little sister and/or his younger brothers on almost every fishing trip because even though they are a huge distraction, he loves to see new people discover the joys of fishing. He packs them all a lunch and cooks them their catch on a lakeside fire. And they love it.

He also keeps our family well fed - about once a week he cooks up his catch for our family dinner. He has fed friend's families and his Grandparents too. He is also passionate about conservation - a first class fisherman.

We loved Carla's story and Justin's dedication to introducing others to the wonderful sport of fishing... especially fellow teens in his community. Keep up the great work Justin!

Merry Christmas and thanks to all who nominated their favourite angler in our latest contest! Stay tuned for new contest announcements by liking us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
